What first reads as a loose pile of wilting flowers is, in fact, a tiara; regal only from above. Beneath it, a cushion stitched from leftover cloth, scraps that were never meant to be seen, now torn from the strain of holding something up. I don't see the tear as damage, but honesty: cloth already surplus, asked to bear weight past its purpose, like flowers cut at their peak and asked to stay beautiful past theirs. From the side, both give up their disguise. Crown and cushion were always dying, always tearing, long before I called them beautiful.
